Military Support Office

 

Mission: The National Boy Scout Jamboree is a 10-day long, quadrennial event, that has been hosted by Fort A.P. Hill since 1981. This event will include 42,000 Scouts in 2005. The MSO serves as the principal staff office responsible for the planning and execution of the Fort A.P. Hill support of the Jamboree. The MSO conducts long-term, mid-term, and near-term management of the Jamboree military support mission. The Deputy Director of the MSO is a full time civilian, while the Director is a military officer stationed at Fort A.P. Hill for an 18-month period that begins one year before the Jamboree, and ends six months after the Jamboree is finished.


Responsible for the planning and execution of the Military Support of the National Scout Jamboree (NSJ).

  •   Responsible for overall planning of the Military Support of the NSJ.


  •   Review and execute the program budget.
  • Manage all Fort A.P. Hill / Boy Scouts of America (BSA) site improvements by coordinating activities  among the BSA, Fort A.P. Hill engineers, and vendors.

  •   Manage all funding issues that involve the military support of the Jamboree.
  •   Identify manning requirements that are submitted to higher headquarters for action.
  •   Provide logistical and administrative support to all military units tasked to participate in the NSJ.
  •   Coordinate activities among the various Fort A.P. Hill directorates that support the NSJ Joint Task Force.
