Mission: The
National Boy Scout Jamboree is a 10-day long, quadrennial event, that
has been hosted by Fort A.P. Hill since 1981.
This event will include 42,000 Scouts
in 2005. The MSO serves as the principal staff office responsible
for the planning and execution of the Fort A.P. Hill support of the
Jamboree. The
MSO conducts long-term, mid-term, and
near-term management of the Jamboree military support mission. The Deputy
Director of the MSO is a full time civilian, while the Director is
a military officer stationed at Fort A.P. Hill for an 18-month period
that begins one year
before the Jamboree, and ends six months after the Jamboree is finished. |
