Command Sergeant Major Joseph E. Reilly

Command Sergeant Major Joseph E. Reilly entered the U.S. Army from Villanova PA on 11 November 1981.  From 1981-1993 Reilly served in positions as a Tactical Satellite Operator, Team Chief, Section Chief, Platoon Sergeant, and S-3 Operations Sergeant.  His assignments include Germany, Panama, Korea, and Ft Bragg North Carolina.  Reilly departed the Army in December 1993 and re-joined the Army in March 2003 as a Civil Affairs Specialist with the United States Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command.

Upon Reilly’s return to the Army, he deployed to Iraq in support of OIF and the 1st Cavalry Division in 2004.  After his return in 2005, Reilly held positions in Charlie co 96th Civil Affairs BN as a Team Engineer and Team Sergeant.  While assigned to 96th Civil Affairs BN, Reilly served in Iraq and Tajikistan in support of OIF and OEF.  Reilly’s next assignment was to the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Noncommissioned Officers Academy (NCOA) as an Advanced and Senior Leader Course instructor.  On his return to the 95th Civil Affairs BDE, Reilly was assigned to Echo co 91st Civil Affairs BN where he served as the Civil Military Operations Center NCOIC and Company First Sergeant with tours supporting JSOTF-TS and OEF Afghanistan. 

Reilly served a second tour at the USAJFKSWCS NCOA as the Career Management Field 37/38 Branch chief/1SG and then returned to serve as the 91st Civil Affairs BN S-3 Operations Sergeant Major.  His most recent assignment was at MacDill AFB and the Joint Special Operations University, as an Instructor for the Joint Special Operations Force Senior Enlisted Academy (JSOFSEA).
Reilly’s education includes the Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leader Course, Joint Special Operations Force Senior Enlisted Academy (JSOFSEA) Class 19, Civil Affairs Qualifications Course, Joint Civil Military Operations Course, Airborne School, Jumpmasters course, Small Group Leader Instructor Training Course, Facility Development Course, and he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston West Virginia.

Reilly’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd OLC), Joint Commendation Medal (2nd OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5th OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6th OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (w/2 Bronze service stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global, War on Terrorism Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (w/numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (6th Award), Master Parachutist Badge, Combat Action Badge and the Army Basic Instructor Badge.
